This is the very first Canadian patent. It is in the "1st series" of patents, numbered 1 to 3,325, issued for 14 year terms beginning June 1824. The "2nd series" of patents were issued beginning in August 1869, and were, at first, issued for 5-year terms; the term changed starting sometime after 1872.
