Comments

Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the Dec. 1836 fire. Only about 2,000 of the almost 10,000 documents were recovered. Little is known about this patent. There are no patent drawings available. This patent is in the database for reference only.

Washington County, NY - 1831 Mr. McCord teamed up with Melville C. Dibble of Detroit to manufacture vises at Sandy Hill, NY. The concern may have been called Dibble & McCord but at least in 1831 it was known as the Sandy Hill Vice (Vise) Company. In 1842, Mr. McCord passed away and Mr. Dibble filed for bankruptcy on July 13, 1842.
