It is possible that this patent is a duplicate of the 1858 US patent granted to Robert Law, {19,033}. That patented shingle mill was manufactured for many years by Trevor & Co., of Lockport, NY, and for a few years by Goldie & McCulloch Co., of Galt, ON. XC patents are Canadian patents issued between 1824 and 1869.
